The Birth of Argentine Tango

Tango was born in the late 19th century in the port districts of Buenos Aires, where different cultures and peoples met. The music of European immigrants, African rhythms, and local folk traditions slowly merged into a new form.
Due to the shortage of women, men practiced both leading and following with each other, refining the intimate and subtle movements we know today.
What began as the dance of the outskirts soon went on to conquer the world – and now has a home on every continent.

Elhiszed, hogy így kezdődött? – Az argentin tangó születése
A tangó a 19. század végén született Buenos Aires kikötőnegyedeiben, ahol különböző kultúrák és népek találkoztak. Az európai bevándorlók zenéje, az afrikai ritmusok és a helyi népzene lassan egy új formává olvadt össze.
A nők hiánya miatt a férfiak egymással is gyakorolták a vezetést és követést, így csiszolódott ki a ma is ismert, intim és finom mozdulatokra épülő tánc.
A külvárosok tánca idővel világhódító útra indult, és ma már minden kontinensen otthonra talált.
